Lake Constance Field Data

The NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) has partnered with the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) to deploy a JPL Radiometer on board a ferry which crosses Lake Constance between Germany and Switzerland.    KIT has been performing radiometric measurements on board the ferry since 2014 to measure Lake Water Surface Temperature (LWST).   Lake Constance is a large body of water in Europe which is ideal for taking measurements and are used to validate satellite retrievals of lake surface temperatures.   By using two independent instruments to validate the water surface temperature a much better form of calibration can be performed and provides a redundant pair of radiometric measurements.  It is provided for informational purposes only and should not be used for scientific studies.
